The Atlatl

The Atlatl predates the bow and arrow. When built properly it is very powerful, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour and having similar energy to a 60 pound bow and arrow. The shaft is not a spear but considered a dart. It must be flexible in order to store energy.

The thrower also must be flexible to build up more energy. It is a very effective weapon against larger game like deer.
